D-Link DCS-930/L Wireless N Home IP Network Camera

I’ve been toying with the idea of getting security cameras for a while. Both myself and C spend a lot of time away from the house and it would feel comforting to be able to some how dial in to make sure everything is ok. I’ve been watching the prices drop for a while, and after a conversation with a good friend, he suggested trying the D-Link rang, as not only were they compatible with NAS drives, but also came with a iOS/Android app which allowed you to dial in over 3G. So last week I took the plunge and … Continue reading D-Link DCS-930/L Wireless N Home IP Network Camera

Apple to dominate the streaming world?

Before you read, this isn’t based on any official news, just my speculation. Over the past couple of years in the UK, more and more steaming companies have been popping up and as  internet speeds rise in the UK, it’s becoming more practical for the like of BBC, ITV, Channel4, Channel5 and various other terrestrial providers to offer a steaming service. Youtube now host many TV programs and films, and it won’t be long until they offer a monthly set fee subscription model. Personally I cancelled my Sky ‘normal TV’ subscription over a year ago now, and have been fed … Continue reading Apple to dominate the streaming world?

Garden Sound System

With the sun coming out a couple of weeks ago, I decided I needed to finally complete a project I’ve had in my head for some time now. When the sun comes out, I seem to make the most of it, I get out the best pressure washer I’ve ever had and spray down the porch, pop up the parasol, get out the recliner, turn on the radio in the kitchen, open a window so I can actually hear the radio, pop and bottle of wine….and relax. Occasionally instead of using the radio in the kitchen, I sometime take Philips … Continue reading Garden Sound System

Apple TV 3rd Generation

Like many I sat and watched live streams of the iPad 3 media event on the 7th March 2012, and sat at drooled at the new shiny. In addition to the iPad 3 being launched there was the announcement of the 3rd generation Apple TV. It’s selling features at the event was a new shiny UI and the ability to output 1080 video (instead of the 720 from the 2nd generation) Although the 1080 did sound appealing, I spend the best part of a month encoding all my media to 720, and didn’t plan on re-encoding all the blurays to … Continue reading Apple TV 3rd Generation

Sony Playstation Vita 3G

I’m a sucker for new shiny, so obviously the Vita has been on my radar since it was announce, the thought of having home console graphics and functionality on the move sounds like a great idea, however it’s more of a curiosity than a necessity. Now, I’ve been beating myself up about this console, I’ve had it on pre-order 3 times from 3 different places, and jumped from the 3G model, to just wi-fi and back to 3G. The cancellations haven’t  been down to the deals or price, I just kept talking myself out of it. I currently have every other console (excluding … Continue reading Sony Playstation Vita 3G

Kangol Misbehaving Hoody with C-Vox

I believe this is the first time I’ve ever blogged about an item of T Shirt Printing….not something I normally do, but this was too geeky not to. So, Monday night I was browsing the Chavsdirect SportsDirect site as I needed some new clothes for the gym, and they had a sale on. While browsing, a Kangol hoody caught my eye, so bought it as it was cheap and not bad looking for £12 The goods turned up last night, and while trying on the hoody, I found a Brucy Bonus !…..I put my hand in the front pocket and found 3.5mm … Continue reading Kangol Misbehaving Hoody with C-Vox

Xbox 360 Gears of War Edition

While playing Call of Duty: MW3 on my old Xbox 360 Elite, I noticed some strange black lines appearing in the background. I switched around cables, ports etc as I assumed it was a cable issue, but the problem stayed. So ‘google is your friend’, and I found a handful of forum posts suggesting that the Xbox was on it’s way out, and these black lines were early signed of the Red Ring of Death, and I could soon expect to see the E74 error message. Now Microsoft have given an additional 2 years warranty to cover the RROD, but unfortunately the … Continue reading Xbox 360 Gears of War Edition

As some of you may know, I have a handful of remote control vehicles, for example the Millennium Falcon and the Delorean, Well this one is just another cheap toy for the collection. This one dropped from £40 to £8.99 with £1.99 shipping from the Argos outlet store The description on the eBay site is ‘Fully functioning radio control van, featuring working lights and sound effects. A team theme tune is activated by pressing a button on the handset, with illuminating spotlights, headlights and tyre screeching sound effect.’…..for £11 … Continue reading A-Team remote control van

Philips Fidelio DS3020/05

I’ve been looking for some kind of portable iPhone dock for a while now. I currently have the ability to charge my phone in most rooms either by docking it in an alarm clock, or in the front of a TV, or just by putting it in the dock connected to my mac. The only problem with the ones I have is, a, they aren’t portable, and b, the sound quality isn’t that great. So….I was in Currys last night at this one caught my eye, as it had a sticker on the box saying “iPhone 4 Bumper compatible”. All … Continue reading Philips Fidelio DS3020/05

Turtle Beach Ear Force DPX21 Headset

Since buying C an Xbox for her birthday, I’ve spent a lot more time in the computer room playing on my Xbox Elite than playing in the front room on limited edition Halo Reach Xbox, on the 52″ TV, connected to the TrueHD 7.1 Amp. To be honest, I actually prefer it, as we’re being a more sociable with each other. In the past, I would normally spend a good couple of hour playing on the Xbox downstairs, and C would lose hours on a “Dinner Dash type” time management game. In the computer room we both have an LG … Continue reading Turtle Beach Ear Force DPX21 Headset
