Ok, first of all, I’m weak, I know I am. I currently have the iPhone 6S, and after watching the Apple conference earlier this month, I didn’t see enough in the new phone to even peak my interest, never mind make me want to upgrade. It’s been three years now since I’ve had a phone upgrade, and my poor old iPhone 5 is starting to struggle a bit with some of the features of iOS9, additionally there are an ever growing number of apps that no longer support the iPhone 5, so it was time to upgrade. I really do love my Apple devices, however as a gamer I do feel they have been lacking behind other companies for controller support. Having been able to resist the iPhone 4S last year, I decided to take the plunge and get the iPhone 5. It seems Apple are releasing a ‘major design change’ version every 2 years, and just a tweaked version with only minor speed bumps and features, e.g….faster chip…Siri on the years in between. I’ve been looking for some kind of portable iPhone dock for a while now. I currently have the ability to charge my phone in most rooms either by docking it in an alarm clock, or in the front of a TV, or just by putting it in the dock connected to my mac. The only problem with the ones I have is, a, they aren’t portable, and b, the sound quality isn’t that great. At present, I’m awaiting delivery of my Apple TV (ETA Monday 4th October 2010). I was thinking last night of the future of the Apple TV, and how this is could be a lot more than a TV, and might be Apples version of a Games Console. Why you may ask ? Google Latitude on iOS 4 update

Now don’t get me wrong Latitudie does what it says on the tin, but boy…does it drain the battery. I also found that the only way to turn it off was to stop the background app from running, and then disable the location service for it. The setting I used for background were, Best location, periodic updates when not moving…off. With these settings, a full battery would last around 8 hours on my iPhone 4, and around 6 hours on C’s 3GS. As you may remember from my post on iOS 4, I was looking forward to somebody developing a Google Latitude application. Google Latitude is a way of keeping your friends updated on your location in real time. Same as most people who were fortune enough to get their hands on a iPhone 4 on release day, I ordered a bumper case too. Now grated, this is essentially £25 for a bit of rubber that surrounds the iPhone, but it really works. The bumper itself is rubber on the front and back, with hard plastic in the middle. When fitted, it lifts the iPhone about a millimeter from the desk, stopping it from getting scratched. It also gives additional protection on the corners and sides.
