Apple Watch

Nearly a year after it’s original release, I finally decided to get myself an Apple Watch. This descision didn’t come easy, I’ve activly shunned the idea of the Watch as ‘not quite good enough yet’ or ‘the next one will be better’, however all it took was a trip the the Apple store, to buy one as an early birthday present for C, and I ended up walking out with two. I won’t lie, I won’t big it up, I won’t go all Apple fanboy on you and try and make you believe this is the best thing since sliced bread, … Continue reading Apple Watch

Fleabay : My friend, my enemy

I’ve been taking part in the Year of Shame challenge for less than three months now, and already it’s had a massive impact on my gaming. What I’m finding is that Im realistically getting around ten hours worth of gaming time a week. Based on this, the odds on me getting through even a quarter of the games before the next generation consoles come out are pretty slim. A couple of weeks ago, I saw an announcement via the Nintendo newsletter that if you owned a 3DS XL, they were kindly giving away one of the following games for just registering … Continue reading Fleabay : My friend, my enemy

‘No Shiny’ 2013 Challenge

About a month ago, I decided to volunteer for the @YOSChallenge over at the midlifegamer.net forum, as I have far too many games, and I keep buying more. As it currently stands, I have 192 uncompleted games in my ‘Pile of Shame’ which really needs some love. The rules for the challenge are as below :- ‘No cold hard cash paid for a game between Eurogamer Sunday (30th September 2012) and Eurogamer Sunday 2013.’ Can be bought a game/points for Birthday/Christmas Can use existing points to buy a game from XBL, PSN, Nintendo Can trade in games to buy games/points … Continue reading ‘No Shiny’ 2013 Challenge

Garden Sound System

With the sun coming out a couple of weeks ago, I decided I needed to finally complete a project I’ve had in my head for some time now. When the sun comes out, I seem to make the most of it, I get out the best pressure washer I’ve ever had and spray down the porch, pop up the parasol, get out the recliner, turn on the radio in the kitchen, open a window so I can actually hear the radio, pop and bottle of wine….and relax. Occasionally instead of using the radio in the kitchen, I sometime take Philips … Continue reading Garden Sound System

Xbox Live “Metro” Dashboard

Being a Software Tester and a Gamer, I obviously jumped at the chance to become a beta tester for the new Xbox Dashboard. Earlier this week I got the “Time for an update” message, and knew it was time to play. As always with the Xbox updates, it just worked, took very little time and before I knew it, I was presented with the new dash, and I have to say, Microsoft have really impressed me. So, what to expect when this goes live to the public ? First screen you get is, Download a profile, Create a profile, or … Continue reading Xbox Live “Metro” Dashboard

BT Infinity

This story starts at the end of last year, when I first heard of the FTTC (Fibre to the Cabinet) technology. As you may or may not know, the FTTC technology is essentially replacing the copper cable that goes from you’re local exchange to your local cabinet (those big green boxes on your road). Instead of the normal copper wiring, it’s being replaced by fibre, which increases the speed us mere mortals get, as the distance the signal needs to travel through copper wiring is normally less that 300 metres, instead of the couple of miles from the exchange. I … Continue reading BT Infinity

Panasonic Lumix DMC TZ10

I’ve been on the lookout for a new camera for a while now, as my previous Acer CR-6530 camera was getting a tad old. Now don’t get me wrong, the CR-6530 is still a great camera, but the battery was on it’s way out, and it’s not quite as portable as the newer camera. I was lucky enough to received the Panasonic HDC-SD200 HD Camcorder for my birthday a couple of years ago, and was blown away by how good the camera quality was…so since then, I’ve been on the lookout. The thing that really caught my eye about … Continue reading Panasonic Lumix DMC TZ10

Playstation Plus

I’ve got a few good things to say about Sony’s Playstation plus, however a lot of bad things. Granted it’s still in it’s infant stages, but it’s so lacking at the moment, especially when you compare it with the Xbox Live service. When firmware 3.60 was release, with the online storage option, I finally took the plunge and dropped £40 on a Playstation Plus subscription. I’m in a fortunate position where I have 2 PS3’s, (one in the front room, and one in the bedroom), and the idea of being able to save to the “cloud”, then pick up again … Continue reading Playstation Plus

Remote Control Delorean

After playing with the Remote Control Millennium Falcon, I’ve been on the outlook for more nostalgic remote control vehicles. To list just a few on my “To get” list are, the General Lee, the A-Team van, Knight Riders KITT and the Back to the Future Delorean. You can only imagine my joy when I saw that Argos were selling off the Deloeans for £12.99 each in their eBay outlet store. These are usually around the £30 mark, and if you look on eBay now, they seem to be going for between £30 – £50 (which I’d bought loads !) To be … Continue reading Remote Control Delorean

Apple TV 2 ? Apples Games Console ?

At present, I’m awaiting delivery of my Apple TV (ETA Monday 4th October 2010). I was thinking last night of the future of the Apple TV, and how this is could be a lot more than a TV, and might be Apples version of a Games Console. Why you may ask ? Ok, I’ve read on multiple blogs, that the device runs on a version of iOS 4.1, there should be no reason why games designed for the iPod Touch, iPhone and iPad shouldn’t be able to run on it. Introduction of the Game Center, which is a cross device … Continue reading Apple TV 2 ? Apples Games Console ?
