My Midlife Crisis

With the average life expectancy for men in the UK being approximately 70….at 35, it’s time to have my midlife crisis. Some men, by a flash car, or start dating somebody half their age…..not me….I bought a Stormtrooper outfit. 🙂 Just a little bit of history. Myself and Antony (my co-host on the ScutterCast podcast) have talked for a while about how cool it would be to have a stormtrooper outfit….well today, that became reality. The suites themselves are supplied by the company that supplies Jedi Robe, however due to collecting and buying 2 at once, we got a fantastic discount. … Continue reading My Midlife Crisis

Mini Stormtrooper images

As some of you may have seen on Facebook and Twitter that I’ve been messing around with a number of Star Wars action figures. These in particular and a couple of stormtroopers, and an R2D2 unit (this is what happens when a 35 year old goes shopping after a couple of beers). I’ve also been after an opportunity to put the iPhone 4’s camera to work. All the images below are shot with the iPhone 4’s 5 megapixel camera. Now I wish I could take credit for the idea, however there are a lot smarter people on the internet, with … Continue reading Mini Stormtrooper images

The New and Improved Computer Room

As you may have read, last week we got a couple of shiny new iMacs.  We did however see this as an opportunity to re do the computer room. We’ve been living in this house for over 4 1/2 years now, and as with most people, the house just gets cluttered. When we first moved in, we both had a PC each, both with 17″ CRT monitors, as we’ve upgraded our main machines, we’ve then built up a “server” machine to host the media on, and to be a terminal for me to dial in to. In the last 4 1/2 years, … Continue reading The New and Improved Computer Room

Homebrew, on the last stage

As you may remember on Jan 18, 2009, I posted a blog about starting some homebrew wine. Well, within 2 weeks it had stopped bubbling, I did the the weight test, and it’s registering at 1001, which means we’re good to go. I popped out at the weekend and got myself 6 x 1Lt bottles, and some corks. The last 2 packets of the formular have been added to the bottle (approx 24 hours ago), and I’ve just put it in a cold place to settle. Fingers crossed, in approx 7 days, I shall have 6 Litres of homebrew red … Continue reading Homebrew, on the last stage

Vauxhall Vectra SRI CDTI (150)

Due to C taking a new job, we were forced to buy a new car. Lucky for us, in the current climate, we were able to pick up a decent car for a fraction of the price. As you can probably tell by the title, we picked up an 08 plate Black Vauxhall Vectra SRI CDTI (150). Granted it’s a diesel, but it’s quick. The 150 stands for 150bhp, and it even pulls in 6th. On my final trek back from the garage, I had to do a junction on the M6, and I got to put my foot down … Continue reading Vauxhall Vectra SRI CDTI (150)

Homebrew, good or bad idea ?

Antirealism popped in to see me today on his way back from London and dropped off a pressy. Over Christmas when myself and C when to see family in sunny Yorkshire, we popped in to see Anti, and I ended up sampling his homebrew wine. I had a small glass and it nearly took my head off. Apparently, 3 glasses will make your face go numb, according to the father of said homebrew. Anyway, Anti popped in as I mentioned, and dropped off the full kit for brewing my own. The deed is done, it’s currently sat in my airing … Continue reading Homebrew, good or bad idea ?

-6 today !!

I woke this morning to find there is still snow on the ground, but just to add to it, it’s -6, which means under the layer of snow was a layer of black ice. No knowing this, (I know, I know, common sense) I set off this morning on my push iron, turned right at the bottom of my road….I went right, the bike went left…. I think I slit for about 3 or 4 meters on my side, with my bike heading in the opposite direction…. I then limped myself to work, which wasn’t helped by my aching body, … Continue reading -6 today !!

The most miserable day of the year

Today is apparently the most miserable day today, everyone (most) are back at work, it’s cold, it’s windy, and snowing. Just to add to the pain and suffering, I’ve just finished the first of 90 days worth of workout from the p90x. Today was core synergistic…it hurt !, I can’t believe how unfit I’ve become in the last 2 1/2 months……and this is probably going to be my shortest blog, as my arms are shaking and I’m finding it hard to type…it’s kinda, type, type, delete, type, type delete, as I keep hitting the wrong keys…. FAIL !

Well, due to having 8 days of constant drinking, myself and C thought it would be a good idea to have some time off the beer, so we would be “normal” for when we went back to work. As per my last post, we bought the “Where in the movies”, and decided if it only gets 4.5 out of 10, then the only try way to test it, would be to get drunk, lol ! As we seemed to still have 8 cans on Magners Cider in the outside fridge, we decided to get a 10 pack of Bud, and … Continue reading FAIL !
