Tritton Universal Kunai Wireless Headset

With all the hype about the Sony wireless headphones for the PS4, and Microsoft’s headphones for the Xbox One, I decided to see if I could find something a little more universal. I had originally pre ordered the Sony PlayStation Wireless Stereo Headset 2.0 which provides 7.1 virtual surround sound, and also the Official Xbox One Stereo Headset, however, after a little research and cancelled them both. The cancelation was nothing to do with the products themselves, I just realised once the ‘new shiny’ hype had died down , I only occasionally needed to use headphone. This is normally … Continue reading Tritton Universal Kunai Wireless Headset

Elgato Game Capture HD

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve become quite addicted to watching and capturing videos using the features on the PS4 and the Xbox One. There is something strangely voyeuristic about being able to sit and watch somebody play through a game, and I’ve found myself spending many evenings doing so. Last year, I picked up a AverMedia Game Capture HD C281 for recording my Xbox and PS3 footage and have had mixed results with it. When it works, it’s great, simply record footage to the internal hard drive, then either pop out the drive or copy to a USB … Continue reading Elgato Game Capture HD

AverMedia Game Capture HD C281

Many moons ago, myself and Tony (fellow Fictionshed founder) spent a some time attempting to find a way to record output from the Xbox for our ViperPilots project. For episode 4 we planned to use the Halo 3 engine, as the capture/playback featue is awesome and gave us everything we need to create the episode, in a machinima Red vs Blue style. The only downside was attempting to get the video out of Halo, and onto the mac for it to be edited together. Bungie do offer a solution to this, however wanted this  to be Game agnostic. When we initially … Continue reading AverMedia Game Capture HD C281

Xbox 360 Gears of War Edition

While playing Call of Duty: MW3 on my old Xbox 360 Elite, I noticed some strange black lines appearing in the background. I switched around cables, ports etc as I assumed it was a cable issue, but the problem stayed. So ‘google is your friend’, and I found a handful of forum posts suggesting that the Xbox was on it’s way out, and these black lines were early signed of the Red Ring of Death, and I could soon expect to see the E74 error message. Now Microsoft have given an additional 2 years warranty to cover the RROD, but unfortunately the … Continue reading Xbox 360 Gears of War Edition

Turtle Beach Ear Force DPX21 Headset

Since buying C an Xbox for her birthday, I’ve spent a lot more time in the computer room playing on my Xbox Elite than playing in the front room on limited edition Halo Reach Xbox, on the 52″ TV, connected to the TrueHD 7.1 Amp. To be honest, I actually prefer it, as we’re being a more sociable with each other. In the past, I would normally spend a good couple of hour playing on the Xbox downstairs, and C would lose hours on a “Dinner Dash type” time management game. In the computer room we both have an LG … Continue reading Turtle Beach Ear Force DPX21 Headset

Xbox 360 Kinect

I’ve been interested in the Kinect ever since it was announced at the 2009 E3 show, under the name of Project Natal. I was able to pre-order back in September, so me being the early adopter I am, ordered it straight away. Well todays the day, and it’s finally release day for the Kinect, and I have to say I’ve pleasantly surprised. I’ll be perfectly honest with you, I was extremely dubious of how good this would be, as y previous experience with any camera controlled titles, have been a bit rubbish to be honest. The most recent one I … Continue reading Xbox 360 Kinect

Xbox 360 Halo Reach Edition

Now anybody that knows me, will know I’m a sucker for shiny things, and nothing comes more shiny that this limited edition Xbox 360s. I’ve been toying with the idea of getting a 2nd xbox for a while now, and when I found out that the Kinect device required a special port, (or an adapter), I thought I’d hang fire until this bad boy was release. Currently I have the Xbox 360 Elite, and to be honest I’m very happy with it, I’ve rarely had a problem, and defiantly not had any red rings of death. So, today’s the day, … Continue reading Xbox 360 Halo Reach Edition

Social Networking for Gamers

I like most of you, use twitter, facebook and occasionally pop on to myspace to see how many bands want to be my friends. Anyway, on the 4th of October, through total fluke read through a twitter conversation, and noticed a load of twitter entries from @squ1r3ll, with updates on his gaming status….linking to a site called raptr.com. Being a bit of a gamer I’ve tried for months to get my gamertags, achievement, out to my friends and virtual friends, but the only way I’ve found to do this is manually. I tried a number of facebook apps, and had … Continue reading Social Networking for Gamers

Halo Wars

Last weekend I noticed that Halo Wars demo was available on the Microsoft Marketplace, and though, it’s an RTS on a console, it’s going to be terrible, but I downloaded, and really enjoyed. I’ve tried other RTS’s on the console, eg C&C, but felt that they don’t work as well as on mouse and keyboard. I’m the kind of person who has groups of units mapped to my 1-9 key for quick select, and like to attack multiple enemies at one..this isn’t possible on the console, or should I say, not as easy as hitting a number key. So anyway … Continue reading Halo Wars
