Xbox 360 Gears of War Edition

While playing Call of Duty: MW3 on my old Xbox 360 Elite, I noticed some strange black lines appearing in the background. I switched around cables, ports etc as I assumed it was a cable issue, but the problem stayed. So ‘google is your friend’, and I found a handful of forum posts suggesting that the Xbox was on it’s way out, and these black lines were early signed of the Red Ring of Death, and I could soon expect to see the E74 error message. Now Microsoft have given an additional 2 years warranty to cover the RROD, but unfortunately the … Continue reading Xbox 360 Gears of War Edition

Apple iOS 4

When I moved from my Nokia E90 to iPhone, there were a few features missing that I used a lot. Being a “tidy freak”, I kept my application organised in folder. I’m also a big fan of Google Latitude and had this running in the background all the time, but these were scarifies I was willing to make to move across to the iPhone. As you can imagine I was overjoyed to find that not only were Folders coming to the next OS for the iPhone, but also “multitasking”. Now granted this isn’t the same multitasking that you get on … Continue reading Apple iOS 4

How to stop spam bots on phpbb3

Over the past couple of months I’ve been having a bit of an issue with spam bots signing up, and posting spam all over my forums. I spent the best part of 2 days trying to combat this but to no avail. I was just about to tear my hair out, when I stubled accross a brilliant idea over at awesomestyles.com The idea was to create a custom field which was compulsery on signup. Custom profile fields are a feature of phpBB3. They allow you, as admin, to easily add fields that a user can fill out to their profile … Continue reading How to stop spam bots on phpbb3

Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Vegas 2

This weekend’s offer on Steam, is the full game at £7.49 (Half Price), so decided to get a copy. To be honest, I am a big fan of FPS’s (First Person Shooters), however I’m more of a UT (Unreal Tournament) type guy, who love running around with the flack cannon, and rocket launcher and turning my opponents into a mess on the floor. I was very surprised at this game, it is very tactical, and you have the think instead of go running in with all guns blazing. I’ve only played it for a couple of hours, but thoroughly enjoyed … Continue reading Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Vegas 2

The most miserable day of the year

Today is apparently the most miserable day today, everyone (most) are back at work, it’s cold, it’s windy, and snowing. Just to add to the pain and suffering, I’ve just finished the first of 90 days worth of workout from the p90x. Today was core synergistic…it hurt !, I can’t believe how unfit I’ve become in the last 2 1/2 months……and this is probably going to be my shortest blog, as my arms are shaking and I’m finding it hard to type…it’s kinda, type, type, delete, type, type delete, as I keep hitting the wrong keys…. You’re In The Movies

Well, after drinking a few beers last night, we decided we were ready to play “You’re In The Movies”. The game fires up, and you have some little actionman type dude running you through how to get the best from the game, camera positioning, lighting, etc etc……….then load screen. We then selected a new movie (“Everyone’s a Superhero” I believe). It than ran us through all the lighting and postioning setting again, took a snapshot of the room without us, and then asked up to come back…..we had become ghosts…. Dependant on where we stood we either got 1/2 a … Continue reading You’re In The Movies
