Apple Watch Series 2

It seems like only yesterday I walked out of the Apple Store with my gen 1 Apple Watch, and since that day, it’s become a integral part of my daily life. Currently, I use it for nothing more than a second screen for apps and a notification system, but it’s just become the norm. Back in September, Apple announced the Apple Watch Series 1 and 2 (doing away with the 1st generation all together). The main differences being, it’s waterproof up to 50 metres (instead of the 1 metre of the gen 1), it now has built in GPS (although … Continue reading Apple Watch Series 2

Apple iPhone 7

Ok, first of all, I’m weak, I know I am. I currently have the iPhone 6S, and after watching the Apple conference earlier this month, I didn’t see enough in the new phone to even peak my interest, never mind make me want to upgrade. Combine that with the fact that I moved to the ‘S’ cycle last year, with the intention of getting a new ‘S’ model every 2 years, the odds on me upgrading this year were slim to none. Apple then announced they were bringing the Apple Upgrade Program to the UK, and you’ve guessed it, just … Continue reading Apple iPhone 7

Mad Catz C.T.R.L.i Bluetooth Controller

I really do love my Apple devices, however as a gamer I do feel they have been lacking behind other companies for controller support. Back when iOS7 was released, Apple added the MFi controller API, allowing games developers to have games controlled from an external device instead of the touchscreen, I seem to remember there were two specs, one was quite a simplistic controller, and the second was more like we’ve become accustomed to with home consoles. It’s been over a year since iOS7 was released and we’re only now starting to see decent bluetooth controllers filtering through. As I’ve used … Continue reading Mad Catz C.T.R.L.i Bluetooth Controller

Mac Mini (2014)

My trusty old 2010 Mac Mini is still going strong as the backbone of my network, however a few OS upgrades, a few more services for it to host, and it’s starting to creek under the pressure. I decided that as the current model was four years old, and was only the mid range version, it was time to upgrade. I decided this time to go with the top of the range, not the upgraded top version, the simple off the shelf top of the range. This meant that not only couple I walk into an Apple store and pick one … Continue reading Mac Mini (2014)

Apple TV 3rd Generation

Like many I sat and watched live streams of the iPad 3 media event on the 7th March 2012, and sat at drooled at the new shiny. In addition to the iPad 3 being launched there was the announcement of the 3rd generation Apple TV. It’s selling features at the event was a new shiny UI and the ability to output 1080 video (instead of the 720 from the 2nd generation) Although the 1080 did sound appealing, I spend the best part of a month encoding all my media to 720, and didn’t plan on re-encoding all the blurays to … Continue reading Apple TV 3rd Generation

Finally bought an iPad

As with most things Apple, I’ve been toying with the idea of getting an iPad since I knew of their existence, however was always put off by the lack of multi tasking, however the recent release of iOS 4.2.1 has fixed that problem. In the recent tech news, there are already a lot of rumours flying around about the iPad 2, suggesting it will have a USB port, a front facing camera, a rear 8 Megapixel camera, carbon fibre back, etc etc. With all these reports, and the release of the new OS, the iPad is back onto my radar. … Continue reading Finally bought an iPad

Apple TV 2 ? Apples Games Console ?

At present, I’m awaiting delivery of my Apple TV (ETA Monday 4th October 2010). I was thinking last night of the future of the Apple TV, and how this is could be a lot more than a TV, and might be Apples version of a Games Console. Why you may ask ? Ok, I’ve read on multiple blogs, that the device runs on a version of iOS 4.1, there should be no reason why games designed for the iPod Touch, iPhone and iPad shouldn’t be able to run on it. Introduction of the Game Center, which is a cross device … Continue reading Apple TV 2 ? Apples Games Console ?

iPhone 4 Bumper

Same as most people who were fortune enough to get their hands on a iPhone 4 on release day, I ordered a bumper case too. Now grated, this is essentially £25 for a bit of rubber that surrounds the iPhone, but it really works. The bumper itself is rubber on the front and back, with hard plastic in the middle. When fitted, it lifts the iPhone about a millimeter from the desk, stopping it from getting scratched. It also gives additional protection on the corners and sides. Once fitted, it looks like it belongs, each cutout is perfect for the … Continue reading iPhone 4 Bumper

iPhone 4

Well today’s the day, and my new shiny iPhone 4 is here ! Just a little bit of background. About 2 and a half years ago, I bought myself a 2nd Generation iPod Touch 32Gb. Since then, I’ve bought a 2x MacBook Pro’s, 2 x 27″ iMacs,  a Mac Mini, and a iPhone 3GS, a Time Capsule, and think I can be officially called an Apple fanboy. My contract with Vodafone was up at the beginning of the year but I’ve waited until the release of the next generation of iPhone…and that’s today. Now to be honest, I cheated a … Continue reading iPhone 4

Mac Mini

“Dear Mr Jobs, When I said “Your work here was done”, in my previous post about my iPhone, I may have been telling porkies, as I still had a Windows machine in the house, however you’ll be glad to know, that I’ve done the right thing, and replaced it with a Mac Mini. Sorry for the porkie, and I am now 100% Apple. Your ever faithful disciple Darren.” As you can probably tell from the above, I’ve replaced my last remaining Windows machine with a Mac Mini (Really ? No sh1t Sherlock). To be honest I’ve been toying with the … Continue reading Mac Mini
