AverMedia Game Capture HD C281

Many moons ago, myself and Tony (fellow Fictionshed founder) spent a some time attempting to find a way to record output from the Xbox for our ViperPilots project. For episode 4 we planned to use the Halo 3 engine, as the capture/playback featue is awesome and gave us everything we need to create the episode, in a machinima Red vs Blue style. The only downside was attempting to get the video out of Halo, and onto the mac for it to be edited together. Bungie do offer a solution to this, however wanted this  to be Game agnostic. When we initially … Continue reading AverMedia Game Capture HD C281

Apple TV 2nd Generation

So today my Apple TV (2nd Generation) turned up, and I have to say I’m pretty impressed. Anybody who knows me or has been reading these my post, will know that over the last couple of years, I’ve become an Apple fan boy I’ve gradually replaced my MP3 player, my phone, my PCs and even my entire network with Apple products, and as time has gone by, I’ve organised my entire music collection to be “iTunes friendly”. I’ve been toying with the idea of an Apple TV for a while now, and very nearly bought one of the 1 generation … Continue reading Apple TV 2nd Generation

Mac Mini

“Dear Mr Jobs, When I said “Your work here was done”, in my previous post about my iPhone, I may have been telling porkies, as I still had a Windows machine in the house, however you’ll be glad to know, that I’ve done the right thing, and replaced it with a Mac Mini. Sorry for the porkie, and I am now 100% Apple. Your ever faithful disciple Darren.” As you can probably tell from the above, I’ve replaced my last remaining Windows machine with a Mac Mini (Really ? No sh1t Sherlock). To be honest I’ve been toying with the … Continue reading Mac Mini

ted (Television Episode Downloader)

If you are anything like me (and god help you if you are :)), and use the internet as a PVR, then this software will be a god send to you. I’ve just recently ordered a Mac Mini to replace my last remaining Windows machine, and thought I’d better check if I could still do what I do now. Currently my Dell machine, sits in the corner, and is used as my media server, my iTunes server and my torrent machine. Currently I have uTorrent installed, which downloads each episode using the RSS Feed option. Each of the RSS feeds … Continue reading ted (Television Episode Downloader)

Sony PS3 OS 3.0 Update First Impressions

Well, if you’ve got a PS3, and turned it on in the last 24 hours you will be greeted by the happy “Dude…there’s a software update, you know what to do…”..message. What do you get I hear you say, well let me tell you. The first thing I noticed was the new startup screen with the PS3 logo…looks kinda cool, and then was met by the “sparkly” new theme…looks kinda cool. In the top right hand corner of the desktop you get your icon, number of friends online, date and time (digital and analogue ?) Each time you start up … Continue reading Sony PS3 OS 3.0 Update First Impressions

The Eye of Judgement

The Eye of Judgement, well what can I say…. I saw what I thought was a bargain, which has turn out to be quite an expensive hobby. I was in the High Cross in Leicester the other Sunday morning, and popped into PowerPlay while waiting for the Apple store to open. I notice sat on a shelf on it’s own a game called “The Eye of Judgement”. The box didn’t have a price on it, however it came with the Playstation eye in the box too, me and C agreed that we wouldn’t pay anymore than £40 for the game, … Continue reading The Eye of Judgement

PS3 Hard Drive Upgrade

Around Christmas time I bought a Sony PS3, with a 40Gb hard drive, feeling this would be more that sufficient. Over the past couple of weeks I’ve found myself having to delete demo, audio and video file, just so I can install games. Last weekend I bought Ghostbusters (blog coming soon), but was unable to play the game as it insisted on installing content to the hard drive before I could play, so time for an upgrade. I browsed the web and found a pretty cheap “Western Digital 500GB 2.5″ Hard Drive SATAII 5400rpm 8MB Cache – OEM Scorpio Blue” … Continue reading PS3 Hard Drive Upgrade

Wolverine finally beat

About 2 months ago I downloaded the demo of Wolverine on my PS3, and loved it !, However with not seeing the film, I wasn’t willing to buy the full game in case of spoilers. About a month ago, I finally got my butt into gear and and went to the cinema, and say Wolverine…which was an ok film. About 3 weeks ago, I was in my local Tesco’s and noticed that it was available on the Xbox 360 for £25 !…Bargain. Luckily I have both consoles so bought it. How is it ?…It’s fantastic !, I read many reviews, … Continue reading Wolverine finally beat

For a while now I’ve been eyeing in the Logitech G25 steering wheel and pedals for a couple of reasons. a, it has a 900 degrees steering wheel b, it has a clutch pedal c, it has a 6 way gearbox with reverse d, I have a lot of racing games for the PS3 So one drunken night (last Friday), I decided to finally take the plunge and buy it. Belkin Powerline AV 200Mbps Networking Adapter (F5D4072uk)

Anybody who watches HD content, will know that streaming this across a wireless network is virtually impossible. My upstairs network is wired, however downstairs (my Wii, Xbox 360 and PS3) are all wireless. This has been fine for gaming, web browsing, and everything else I normally use the Internet for downstairs, however it’s just not quick enough to stream HD content. I’m a bit of a AV snob, and like the Video and Audio quality to be the best I can get. I like most people download TV episode from the web (just seems easier than recording via Sky, plus … Continue reading Belkin Powerline AV 200Mbps Networking Adapter (F5D4072uk)
