Apple TV 3rd Generation

Like many I sat and watched live streams of the iPad 3 media event on the 7th March 2012, and sat at drooled at the new shiny. In addition to the iPad 3 being launched there was the announcement of the 3rd generation Apple TV. It’s selling features at the event was a new shiny UI and the ability to output 1080 video (instead of the 720 from the 2nd generation) Although the 1080 did sound appealing, I spend the best part of a month encoding all my media to 720, and didn’t plan on re-encoding all the blurays to … Continue reading Apple TV 3rd Generation

Mini Stormtrooper images

As some of you may have seen on Facebook and Twitter that I’ve been messing around with a number of Star Wars action figures. These in particular and a couple of stormtroopers, and an R2D2 unit (this is what happens when a 35 year old goes shopping after a couple of beers). I’ve also been after an opportunity to put the iPhone 4’s camera to work. All the images below are shot with the iPhone 4’s 5 megapixel camera. Now I wish I could take credit for the idea, however there are a lot smarter people on the internet, with … Continue reading Mini Stormtrooper images

How to hide items on your Facebook news feed

Ok, just a quick blog post, but some people may find this useful . If you are like me and have a number of friends of facebook that play a lot of the facebook apps such as Farmville, Mafia Wars, Cafe World, etc and tend to hit the publish button every time they fire up the game, or what seems like every 30 seconds, your Facebook news feed, like mine can get a little crowded. You could un-friend them, but that’s not very friendly, and if they enjoy playing the games, and I’m sure they have other friends that may … Continue reading How to hide items on your Facebook news feed

Social Networking for Gamers

I like most of you, use twitter, facebook and occasionally pop on to myspace to see how many bands want to be my friends. Anyway, on the 4th of October, through total fluke read through a twitter conversation, and noticed a load of twitter entries from @squ1r3ll, with updates on his gaming status….linking to a site called raptr.com. Being a bit of a gamer I’ve tried for months to get my gamertags, achievement, out to my friends and virtual friends, but the only way I’ve found to do this is manually. I tried a number of facebook apps, and had … Continue reading Social Networking for Gamers

M-Audio Fast Track Pro

Over the post 6 months or so, I’ve become heavly involved with recording audio for a number of projects we work on, over at Fictionshed. If you listen back to the earlier podcasts (Fictioncasts), you’ll here me say, that you don’t need any specialised equiptment to record your voice, and a standard PC, with cheap mic will do…..the rest of this post will be me eating my words. Due to getting a not the quality I wanted from the cheap headphone/mic combination, Tony kindly lent me a mixer and a couple of mics. This did improve the quality, however gave … Continue reading M-Audio Fast Track Pro

Halo Wars

Last weekend I noticed that Halo Wars demo was available on the Microsoft Marketplace, and though, it’s an RTS on a console, it’s going to be terrible, but I downloaded, and really enjoyed. I’ve tried other RTS’s on the console, eg C&C, but felt that they don’t work as well as on mouse and keyboard. I’m the kind of person who has groups of units mapped to my 1-9 key for quick select, and like to attack multiple enemies at one..this isn’t possible on the console, or should I say, not as easy as hitting a number key. So anyway … Continue reading Halo Wars

Busy, Busy, Busy

Instead of spending the evening playing Street Fighter 4, I decided to start on a Fictionshed advertising campaign. For anybody that’s not aware, I’m part owner of the Fictionshed company, we’re responsible for a number of machinima/ audio drama podcasts / youtube feeds. We’ve been running for about 2 years now, but we’re recently take a few new members onboard, and the projects are finally starting to gain momentum. This being the case, I though it was about time I started to get the word out. I’ve used twitter myself for about 3/4 months (please note: this was before it … Continue reading Busy, Busy, Busy

Fictionshed Forum, up and running.

As you may know, I’m joint owner of the “company” Fictionshed. Myself and Tony Lunn have a number of projects we are working on together, and a couple of months ago, we decided to create an umbrella company to bring all the projects together. The final piece in the jigsaw was to merge the forums, as we had each one for project with a handful of members and staff in each. This weekend, I’ve finally done it, I’ve merged the forums, and things seem to be picking up nicely. Feel free to pop in and say Hi Hyperlink Here 😀 Continue reading Fictionshed Forum, up and running.
