Apple Watch Series 2

It seems like only yesterday I walked out of the Apple Store with my gen 1 Apple Watch, and since that day, it’s become a integral part of my daily life. Currently, I use it for nothing more than a second screen for apps and a notification system, but it’s just become the norm. Back in September, Apple announced the Apple Watch Series 1 and 2 (doing away with the 1st generation all together). The main differences being, it’s waterproof up to 50 metres (instead of the 1 metre of the gen 1), it now has built in GPS (although … Continue reading Apple Watch Series 2

Apple iPhone 7

Ok, first of all, I’m weak, I know I am. I currently have the iPhone 6S, and after watching the Apple conference earlier this month, I didn’t see enough in the new phone to even peak my interest, never mind make me want to upgrade. Combine that with the fact that I moved to the ‘S’ cycle last year, with the intention of getting a new ‘S’ model every 2 years, the odds on me upgrading this year were slim to none. Apple then announced they were bringing the Apple Upgrade Program to the UK, and you’ve guessed it, just … Continue reading Apple iPhone 7

L2/R2 Button grip cover for PCH-1000 Vita

Like most, I’ve had a Vita since day one, however for the last year or so, it’s just sat there gathering dust. This is not due to lack of content (trust me, I’ve got loads of games to play on it), I’ve always found the rear touch pad a little cumbersome. I guess when Sony designed the Vita, this was deemed as groundbreaking, “a touch screen on the front and rear, amazing! This will sell!”. However in practice, it turned out to be quite distracting, and fiddly most of the time. About a year ago, I started looking for a solution and … Continue reading L2/R2 Button grip cover for PCH-1000 Vita

Apple Watch

Nearly a year after it’s original release, I finally decided to get myself an Apple Watch. This descision didn’t come easy, I’ve activly shunned the idea of the Watch as ‘not quite good enough yet’ or ‘the next one will be better’, however all it took was a trip the the Apple store, to buy one as an early birthday present for C, and I ended up walking out with two. I won’t lie, I won’t big it up, I won’t go all Apple fanboy on you and try and make you believe this is the best thing since sliced bread, … Continue reading Apple Watch

New Home = New Home Cinema System

As some of you may be aware, I finally got my butt into gear and bought my first house back in June. When C and I were looking for a new house, once of the criteria was my very own ManCave, containing all the previous home cinema and gaming equipment that previously lived in the front room at the old house. These consisted of previous speaker system, Pioneer VSX922 amp, and all my games consoles. Below is a pic of my current ManCave, Although it needs a lick of paint, all the tech is in place and fully functional in … Continue reading New Home = New Home Cinema System

AppleTV 4th Generation

Since the AppleTV 2 was released in way back in 2010, I’ve always hoped that Apple would enable functionality for apps on the TV as this is always something I’ve found lacking. Granted I could have always accomplished this by jailbreaking it, however I’ve always found tinkering with custom firmwares to be a double edged sword, so I always left my Apple kit vanilla. Then in 2012, Apple released the AppleTV 3, with an improved processor (same processor as the iPad 2/iPad Mini), improved bluetooth and I though, “finally…here we go”, but it unfortunately it never happened. The following year … Continue reading AppleTV 4th Generation

Sega Megadrive

I have very fond memories of playing on my brothers Mega Drive and Master System back in the day, although at that point I was mainly a PC gamer on my VIC-20 and later my Spectrum +2, my parents took my brother down the Sega console route. With his birthday on the horizon, I was hunting around of a gift for him, and saw this little beauty. With it including 80 built in games, and a tiny little footprint, this looked like a perfect gift. Although I ordered within plenty of time, the courier company failed me, meaning I had to … Continue reading Sega Megadrive

Apple iPhone 6s

It’s been three years now since I’ve had a phone upgrade, and my poor old iPhone 5 is starting to struggle a bit with some of the features of iOS9, additionally there are an ever growing number of apps that no longer support the iPhone 5, so it was time to upgrade. Why didn’t you get the iPhone 6 I hear you ask?, Well, I decided last year to break my biyearly iPhone buying cycle and wait for the S model instead, for a number of reasons. It allows app developers to catch up with the new screen resolution, and case and … Continue reading Apple iPhone 6s

Apple Airport Extreme

Having recently moved house, I found my previous solution of a Time Capsule and an AirPort Extreme to extend the wireless network was no longer good enough in the new house. This is partly due to the fact that I’m now living in a 1961 house with very thick walls, and partly down to the Time Capsule location. Previously the Time Capsule was in the same room as all the tech, and on the 2nd floor, with the AirPort Extreme hard wired in the front room extending the wireless network and giving a very good coverage. In the new house, I have a … Continue reading Apple Airport Extreme

QNAP TS-431 4 Bay Network Attached Storage

As you probably know by now, I’m a sucker for storage. Over the years I’ve been through various online and offline storage solutions. The next chapter in the story is the QNAP TS-431. I’ve been toying with the idea of QNAP for a while, and with recently having problems with my Time Capsule being over worked, I thought I’d give it a blast. As I had quite a few drives kicking around, I decided I’d go with the 4-bay version, as not only can I use Raid-5, but it also has two gigabit lan port, but the price wasn’t much … Continue reading QNAP TS-431 4 Bay Network Attached Storage
