Mac Mini

“Dear Mr Jobs, When I said “Your work here was done”, in my previous post about my iPhone, I may have been telling porkies, as I still had a Windows machine in the house, however you’ll be glad to know, that I’ve done the right thing, and replaced it with a Mac Mini. Sorry for the porkie, and I am now 100% Apple. Your ever faithful disciple Darren.” As you can probably tell from the above, I’ve replaced my last remaining Windows machine with a Mac Mini (Really ? No sh1t Sherlock). To be honest I’ve been toying with the … Continue reading Mac Mini

Finally got an iPhone

“Dear Mr Jobs, your work here is now done, it’s taking 2 years for me to fully make the transition to Apple, however my quest is now complete, and apologies for taking so long…” If I was writing a letter to Steve Jobs, it would go something like that 🙂 Well, my journey started a couple of years ago, with a iPod Shuffle, then iPod Touch, then MacBook Pro, then iMac and finally I’ve got a iPhone. Every device I’ve bought from Apple has wow’d me in 1 way or another, and they “just work” I’ve been fighting getting an iPhone … Continue reading Finally got an iPhone

Ninjas Vs Zombies

Well, I’m honored to say, that I have finally seen the one of my most anticipated films of this year. This film is brought to you by the guys over at the Suckcast podcast. Just a little history before we start on the film, I was made aware of the Suckcast podcast when they tweeted the RedDwarfForum twitter account saying they were liking the ScutterCast podcast, back then we were getting quite a lot of flak due to poor editing, poor preparation, and just generally doing a poor podcast. I initially assumed that it was somebody else taking the piss … Continue reading Ninjas Vs Zombies

Ozaki iPill Microphone

As some of you may know, in just over 2 weeks I’ll be heading to the Holiday Inn in Birmingham for Dimension Jump XV, this year Red Dwarf Convention, and as we do a Red Dwarf podcast (ScutterCast), I thought it might me a good idea to record some footage while I was there. I’ve been looking at a number of solutions and came up with the idea of using Audioboo from my iPod touch, then picking up the Audioboo feed using WP-o-Matic, which will then post the audio on the Red Dwarf Forum homepage, which will then tweet this … Continue reading Ozaki iPill Microphone

Sony PS3 OS 3.0 Update First Impressions

Well, if you’ve got a PS3, and turned it on in the last 24 hours you will be greeted by the happy “Dude…there’s a software update, you know what to do…”..message. What do you get I hear you say, well let me tell you. The first thing I noticed was the new startup screen with the PS3 logo…looks kinda cool, and then was met by the “sparkly” new theme…looks kinda cool. In the top right hand corner of the desktop you get your icon, number of friends online, date and time (digital and analogue ?) Each time you start up … Continue reading Sony PS3 OS 3.0 Update First Impressions

Apple In-Ear Headphones with Remote and Mic

To be honest, I was hesitant of spending £54 on a pair of earphones, when I already had a prefectly good pair of Sony ones. The problem being that I use my Ipod Touch the most at work, which means that I have to keep pausing my podcasts. Now this wouldn’t normally be a problem, but as my Ipod Touch or Iphone user will tell you, if you set the power saving, pausing your music can be a lengthy task. You have to unlock your screen, enter your pin, goto the music, and then hit pause, dependant on how tired … Continue reading Apple In-Ear Headphones with Remote and Mic

The Universal Dock Adaptor

Well, I have to say I’m impressed with this doc. I like most people tried to do things on the cheap, and bought a dock from Ebay. It was a genuine Apple dock, however not for Touch 2nd Gen. It did work, however fitment was sloppy and the doc adapter didn’t fit. This one just works, plugged it in, dropped my Ipod Touch on it, and it synced straight away, the good thing is, if I don’t use the dock adapter, it fits with the case on 🙂 Finally, the remote control that comes with it, also controls the MacBook … Continue reading The Universal Dock Adaptor

You’re In The Movies

Well, after drinking a few beers last night, we decided we were ready to play “You’re In The Movies”. The game fires up, and you have some little actionman type dude running you through how to get the best from the game, camera positioning, lighting, etc etc……….then load screen. We then selected a new movie (“Everyone’s a Superhero” I believe). It than ran us through all the lighting and postioning setting again, took a snapshot of the room without us, and then asked up to come back…..we had become ghosts…. Dependant on where we stood we either got 1/2 a … Continue reading You’re In The Movies

I have issues..I think

Well today I had Tony Hawks project 8 turn up in the post…the worrying thing is, I couldn’t remember ordering it ! Anyway, checked the invoice, and sure enough I’d ordered it from Amazon, from one of their Fleabay style used sections. So cool I thought, I’ll play on that today. When to town this morning to have my haircut, once done did the regulation “Call in at Game, and Gamestation” to check out the titles, and ended up buying You’re in the Movies, (you know the one with the webcam), so looks like I’m playing that tonight instead, however … Continue reading I have issues..I think
